DescriptionDescription
Grandfather Sofu is one of the decorative Okiagari characters. Made from papier-mâché, this roly-poly doll returns upright when tilted to one side.
The family's grandfather
Sofu means grandfather and here evokes the passing on of knowledge between generations. In the Okiagari tradition, the doll's movement is associated with falling and getting up again. This interpretation remains symbolic and attributes no powers to the figurine.
