Product details
Sakura Wine Alley TGB11 is a wooden book nook kit depicting a Japanese alley lined with small restaurants. Lit lanterns, signs and cherry blossom branches create a scene with depth. Place it between two books to open up a view within your bookshelf.
A street of restaurants rather than an enclosed room
Your eye follows a paved passage between an izakaya, a ramen restaurant and a grill restaurant. Miniature menus, stools and sake crates give each shopfront its own identity. Cherry blossoms fill the upper section; below, the closely spaced façades narrow the perspective. The lanterns' LED lighting supports the street scene without turning the model into a reading lamp.
This model focuses on small businesses and neighbourhood life. It suits anyone looking for a Japanese urban scene rather than a house with rooms on view. After assembly, the lettering and accessories outside the restaurants are as worth looking at as the buildings: they give the alley its sense of scale.
249 pieces and a size to check
The kit contains 249 pieces. The manufacturer gives an assembly time of around three and a half hours, which will vary with your pace. The assembled dimensions are 11.1 × 19.5 × 22.1 cm. Before choosing a spot, check the depth available behind the row of books and the height below the shelf above.
To prepare for assembly, keep the pieces grouped according to the markings in the instructions. A light-coloured surface can help you find the sign components and small accessories. Set aside somewhere you can leave the work in progress, rather than having to move the assembled sections after each stage. Take time to compare the orientation of the façades with the illustrations before closing up the street scene.
Displaying it on a bookshelf
You could place it beside manga, Japanese novels or travel journals: this is a decorative choice, not an installation requirement. Above all, keep the opening visible and avoid letting a book jut out in front of the lanterns. Displaying it at eye level lets you look along the passage without moving the model to see the details.
To compare sizes, browse the book nooks for bookshelves. The Sakura Journey TGS02 tram uses cherry trees in a standalone scene, without the alley setting. The Rolife selection lets you choose between this scene to place among books and models to display on their own.
